So here we are, and by we I mean we Americans, at the crux of potential change that has been necessary for some time now. I feel that we have before us the opportunity to take advantage of momentum that has been building amongst people that rarely care who is running in whatever election etc. What I ask and expect of my fellow Americans is not to stop simply because the election is over, but to carry forward all of the excitement and meaning that this election held. Don't just elect a man and be happy because of his demographics. Hold him accountable to his statements and expect him to meet these demands, that is what we as Americans should be doing. It is not only our right, but it is our duty to demand this of our leaders and we have forgotten this. We have spent the last 5 or 6 years bitching and complaining. Bitching does nothing, action is necessary. I get the same questions every time... what action, my voice isn't heard blah blah... At the end of the day these are excuses. Every American at some level has the ability and the avenue to get involved. Whether your choice is to do so through the blogosphere or through your local representatives, I don't care, all of these venues are useful and necessary. The only thing I care about is that you get involved in some level.
On Monday, November 3rd I attended the Obama Rally in Manassas, VA. It was an exciting and quite moving event. I have not seen a large group of people so emotional about politics in a long time. As I stood in the crowd amongst strong supporters, I realized that this is not just the end of an unusually long election road, but the beginning of something. So here we sit at the beginning of something. What will we as Americans do with this fresh start?
