Rallies and Challenges, Hopes and Fears

So here we are, and by we I mean we Americans, at the crux of potential change that has been necessary for some time now. I feel that we have before us the opportunity to take advantage of momentum that has been building amongst people that rarely care who is running in whatever election etc. What I ask and expect of my fellow Americans is not to stop simply because the election is over, but to carry forward all of the excitement and meaning that this election held. Don't just elect a man and be happy because of his demographics. Hold him accountable to his statements and expect him to meet these demands, that is what we as Americans should be doing. It is not only our right, but it is our duty to demand this of our leaders and we have forgotten this. We have spent the last 5 or 6 years bitching and complaining. Bitching does nothing, action is necessary. I get the same questions every time... what action, my voice isn't heard blah blah... At the end of the day these are excuses. Every American at some level has the ability and the avenue to get involved. Whether your choice is to do so through the blogosphere or through your local representatives, I don't care, all of these venues are useful and necessary. The only thing I care about is that you get involved in some level.
On Monday, November 3rd I attended the Obama Rally in Manassas, VA. It was an exciting and quite moving event. I have not seen a large group of people so emotional about politics in a long time. As I stood in the crowd amongst strong supporters, I realized that this is not just the end of an unusually long election road, but the beginning of something. So here we sit at the beginning of something. What will we as Americans do with this fresh start?

NaNo Halloween and Elections

National Novel Writing Month has begun and I am already on pace to 50K, go me! Didn't really do much for Halloween. I went and relaxed with some friends. We did go see the new Kevin Smith film Zach and Miri Make a Porno. It was pretty good actually. A lot of laughs, nothing earth shattering but definitely hilarious. I am getting excited for the election. I think it is going to be a really important one and I hope the voter turn out is very strong. It is important for Americans to focus on politics again and encourage them to share their voice.

NaNoWriMo and elections oh my

Ok it is that time of the year... NaNoWriMo... for all of you that don't know that means it is National Novel Writing Month in Nov. I have attempted every year since '03 (I think), but this year I will be finishing something. I am not going to promise it will interesting or beneficial but I will be finishing 'something'. The election is coming up and I know who I am voting for and honestly I am pretty ok with my choice. I just hope he doesn't screw up once he gets there and make me depressed about who I voted for. Not really much of an update... I haven't had the time lately to give my sarcastic opinions of the world and I will be pretty MIA in Nov... I may have NaNo updates on here though... we'll see...

Political whirlwind

So I have been off the blogging and radio show map for a while now. Since then, we have had a lot of important things happen in the political world. Barack Obama took the role of democratic presidential nominee and John Mccain chose a female as his running mate. What? Yes that is correct, Hilary didn't win the nomination and Mccain chose a woman. So now we sit 8 weeks away from the presidential election and I am no closer to the decision of who I want to vote for. The choices are on so completely different. On one side you have a man that sounds like your great grandfather and on the other you have the young politician with barely enough experience to take the office, let alone run for it. It is going to be an interesting few weeks and I will be excited to watch it. I could always take the easy way out and write-in Ron Paul. Oh the choices available to the voting citizen. Sometimes it is nice to live in a Representational Democracy, every 4 years you get to matter more than ever.

Oh yea and to shamelessly plug: www.liveundergroundmusic.com - we have made some changes and things are progressing and www.blogtalkradio.com/thejensays - Corey and I will be starting up Red Button Radio again in the very next future.
